The Hôtel des Ventes in Monte-Carlo, the most prestigious auction house based in the Principality, is being leading a unique public auction of works of modern and contemporary art & design of great value, held at their headquarters from the 13th until the 19th January 2023. A parade of paintings, sculptures, engravings and other masterpieces by major artists like Giorgio De Chirico, Maurice Utrillo, Edgar Degas, Henri Matisse, Fernando Botero, Alexandra Exter, Dora Maar, Trung Thu Mai, Fernandez Arman, François-Xavier Lalanne, Thierry Bisch, Paolo Salvati as well as an important collection of furnitures from Chandigarh, ideal town set in the Northern India and designed by the most popular architect Le Corbusier.

In the final session, planned on Thursday the 19th January at 6:00 p.m. a painting by François-Olivier Nolorgues, named 'Health Care' (acrylic on canvas, 2022, 100x100cm) will be auctioned as lot number 87 for a range of a value between 20,000 / 30,000 €. The French artist is classified as a figurative painter. His work is part of a quasi-holistic approach in search of the intimate energy of each person he meets. Attitudes, movements, sensations, personalities are at the center of his artistic production. Nothing is taken for granted and the final result never predetermined. In other words "he listens to the future and transcribes it in the present as if the truth was somewhere possible to materialise".

The proceeds of the auction will be donated to Monaco Liver Disorder (M.L.D.), association created ten years ago by Carla Fadoul Shechter, under the honorary presidency of H.S.H. Princess Charlène of Monaco. It is the only Monegasque body that is totally committed to the medical research on liver diseases affecting children by providing support to their families at the same time. Since its creation (2011), Princess Charlene of Monaco is acting as the Honorary President of the association.
Carla Fadoul Shechter highlighted: "We are actively helping and supporting medical research so that we can overcome serious diseases that are still too often fatal".
Participating in the auction tomorrow afternoon will be vital to help research and allow a better life for those affected by serious diseases at an early age. ***

EPISODE 7: What does Urban Functional Biodiversity refer to?
How do you feel when you come into contact with the green spaces of your city? Maybe more relaxed, regenerated and energetic! it is not by chance. #Urban Functional #Biodiversity is about various natural #species and their specific functional traits (e.g., nitrogen fixation, pollination, water retention) that maintain #ecosystems and provide essential #services in heavily populated areas. Boosting #climate regulation, favouring flood #control, reducing #pollution, providing recreational spaces and improving human #wellbeing, resilience and health are some of the most significant #benefits they generate.
Being inspired by #Nature’s balance helps #architects, #designers and urban #planners to select vegetation able to optimises specific ecological functions, such as #water infiltration or biodiversity support. Integrating interconnected #green spaces (e.g.: parks, green roofs) and #blue spaces (ponds, wetlands) promotes #habitat connectivity and strengthens urban biodiversity. Moreover, engaging local residents and stakeholders in the planning and management of urban nature, encourages a shared vision of the development of densely inhabited areas, boosting mental and physical health.
Main Strategies for Enhancing Urban Functional Biodiversity are:
· Biodiversity-Sensitive Design]: that is integrating native, multi-functional plant species into urban design, including vertical gardens and green roofs.
· Ecological Restoration: that is actively restoring urban green and blue spaces to enhance habitat diversity and ecological function.
· Inclusive Governance: that is engaging local residents and stakeholders in the planning and management of urban nature.
