Monaco Science Festival: a riding-high showcase of Marine Conservation and Innovation.

Monaco’s highly anticipated Science Festival (Fête de la Science) wraps up its 2026 edition at the Salle Léo Ferré in Fontvieille. This unique event will successfully bring together the region's top researchers, institutions, and eco-conservationists on Wednesday, September the 30th, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 6 p.m.

are you ready? The Principality of Monaco will be soon transformed into a bustling hub of scientific discovery. Co-organised by the Museum of Prehistoric Anthropology of Monaco and the Centre Scientifique de Monaco (CSM), this completely free public event successfully bridged the gap between cutting-edge laboratory research and local community engagement.

MARINE ECOSYSTEMS IN THE SPOTLIGHT

With global climate shifts being put on the spotlight, this year’s Festival had being placing a massive emphasis on marine health and environmental resilience. A major highlight was the prominent showcase by the Association Monégasque pour la Protection de la Nature (AMPN), which hosted interactive, educational workshops focused on Monaco’s Marine Protected Areas. Visitors had the rare opportunity to explore real-time tracking data and conservation methodologies aimed at protecting local Mediterranean ecosystems.

The festival grounds featured diverse programming designed for families, students, and science enthusiasts alike:

• Interactive Classrooms: The Mediterranean Science Commission (CIESM) debuted its advanced PRISM 3D mapping tool, offering virtual reality experiences tracking migratory and exotic species across the Mediterranean.

• Immersive Gaming: A custom-designed science escape game and hands-on demonstrations kept younger audiences engaged in complex chemistry and physics concepts.

• Diverse Collaboration: Institutions ranging from the Spéléoclub de Monaco to the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation which will present their ongoing field studies, stretching from underground caves to polar penguin populations.

EXPERTS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC ARE GETTING CLOSER AND CLOSER

By opening the doors of the Salle Léo Ferré, to the general public, Monaco continues to foster a culture of transparent scientific communication. Researchers from medical biology sectors also shared updates on pediatric tumor research and the impacts of microplastics on human well-being, proving that the work done inside the Principality’s walls impacts global health networks. Thus, Monaco reinforces its enduring legacy not just as a luxurious coastal haven, but as a driving force for international ecological progress.

• Edutainment workshops on Marine Protected Areas with the AMPN (Monegasque Association for the Protection of Nature). Presentations;

• Educational activities by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation.

• Engaging workshops promoted by the Speleo Club de Monaco, the Museum of Prehistoric Anthropology, the CHPG (Centre Hospitalier Princesse Grasse), Pelagos Agreement, the CIESM, ACCOBAMS, RAMOGE, the Exotic Garden and the Animal Garden of Monaco, as well as the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency).
