Now it's official! Jannik Sinner, the record-winning Italian tennis player defeated his opponent, Carlos Alcaraz, a few hours ago, in the final of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters with a score of 7-6(5) 6-3. It is the fourth Masters 1000 tournament won consecutively by the Italian champion, placing him on the top of the ATP (=Association of Tennis Professionals) rankings.
The most anticipated Monegasque men international tennis challenge, held from the 4th to the 12th April 2026 on the iconic clay courts of the Monte-Carlo Country Club,
is one of the most prestigious and legendary ATP tournaments of the entire season.
This edition will also go down in history for the achievement of the Monegasque professional tennis player, Valentin Vacherot, who placed him on the top four of the Tournament, an outbreaking result who made Monaco rejoice.
But Sinner's remarkable victory also represents the triumph of a true sustainable approach to the career of a professional skilled athlete. Jannik has always shown a quiet, respectful, action-oriented, self-conscious attitude since the beginning of his brilliant career, up the recent creation of the Jannik Sinner Foundation, a non-profit organisation addressed to support children and young people through education and sport. Not surprisingly, he has been promoting a more responsible and sustainable lifestyle and consumption. His mindset puts him in perfect harmony with the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters commitment to sustainable management of the event.

The Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters, in fact, is actively committed to sustainability and ecology, implementing several initiatives to reduce its ecological footprint.
Following a precise strategic management plan, a set of recycling zones are set up on site to reduce waste production and encourage circular economy.
The organising committee encourages the use of public transportation for spectators, visitors and staff to reduce carbon emissions and reinforce sustainable mobility.
The tournament promotes environmental awareness by associating the event with a series of ecological projects in the territory.
Last but not least, the Monte-Carlo SBM (Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer), major sponsor and prior hospitality manager in the Principality is strictly following targeted environmental and social responsibility procedures, in order to keep high standards constantly monitored and reported in the annual financial statement.
Existing since 1897, the Monte-Carlo Masters confirms itself as one of the most prestigious clay-court tennis tournament, taking place in an exclusive location, and marked by a proactive and environmentally-friendly-oriented management. ***

EPISODE 7: What does Urban Functional Biodiversity refer to?
How do you feel when you come into contact with the green spaces of your city? Maybe more relaxed, regenerated and energetic! it is not by chance. #Urban Functional #Biodiversity is about various natural #species and their specific functional traits (e.g., nitrogen fixation, pollination, water retention) that maintain #ecosystems and provide essential #services in heavily populated areas. Boosting #climate regulation, favouring flood #control, reducing #pollution, providing recreational spaces and improving human #wellbeing, resilience and health are some of the most significant #benefits they generate.
Being inspired by #Nature’s balance helps #architects, #designers and urban #planners to select vegetation able to optimises specific ecological functions, such as #water infiltration or biodiversity support. Integrating interconnected #green spaces (e.g.: parks, green roofs) and #blue spaces (ponds, wetlands) promotes #habitat connectivity and strengthens urban biodiversity. Moreover, engaging local residents and stakeholders in the planning and management of urban nature, encourages a shared vision of the development of densely inhabited areas, boosting mental and physical health.
Main Strategies for Enhancing Urban Functional Biodiversity are:
· Biodiversity-Sensitive Design]: that is integrating native, multi-functional plant species into urban design, including vertical gardens and green roofs.
· Ecological Restoration: that is actively restoring urban green and blue spaces to enhance habitat diversity and ecological function.
· Inclusive Governance: that is engaging local residents and stakeholders in the planning and management of urban nature.
