We are about to celebrate the 2025 Earth Day, entitled "Our Planet, Our Planet" to call for a collective engagement in investing on renewable energies with the purpose of taking a step forward in fighting against the climate change and preserving Planet Earth's biodiversity. A unique event is being held at the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo on the same date (22nd April 2025), by the will of MONASIA, a non-profit association based in Monaco whose objective is to contribute to to raise knowledge and a greater mutual understanding between the Principality and Asian communities, and The Economist, the prestigious international weekly magazine on politics and economy.
"Mare ad Astra" is a new high-level private meeting that gathers together leading decision makers to debate on key issues in the areas of Sustainable Development and Educational Innovation. The half-day round table will involve the participation of prior multinational groups like Nestlé, operating the food sector, Blackrock, a large investment company, Schneider, active in the fields of automation and energy management, with the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation and the Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer. A parade of high-level personalities committed to philanthropy and soft power is expected to attend the assembly. Notably, H.R.H. Marie-Esméralda of Belgium, journalist, author, documentary-maker and environmental activist to prevent biodiversity loss; Alexandra Cousteau, filmmaker, sustainability keynote speaker and an environmental activist; and Cédric Biscay, CEO and Founder of Shibuya International, and Special Advisor at the Prince's Palace for the World Expo Osaka 2025.

On this occasion, Mickhaïl Nefedov, Major Donor to the Prince Albert II Foundation and President of Monasia, pointed out: « It is a real pleasure and honour to succeed in bringing The Economist to Monaco and offer such an exclusive content to raise awareness of the environmental cause. With this event, MONASIA clearly demonstrates its commitment to ecological issues while striving to involve the new generation as much as possible ».
Not by chance, the meeting, being part of the Economist Impact, by The Economist Group, aims at fostering sustainable progress, social and economic change with the involvement of the business sector, foundations, NGOs and governmental bodies.
The core mission of the first Monaco's session is about philanthropy and its role as a driver towards achieving climate goals.
After the conference, the iconic Blue Clippers vessel, moored at the Yacht Club de Monaco is going to welcome all participants together with young visitors from the region at the Yacht Club de Monaco, to increase awareness on sustainable maritime navigation and ocean preservation.
Dominic Ziegler, Senior editor at The Economist, reaffirms the pivotal role of gathering inspiring figures around the same table to develop a proactive dialogue, highlighting:
«Philanthropy has a rare ability to take risks, fund innovation, and drive change, yet its potential remains underused when it comes to dealing with Climate Change. This Economist Impact roundtable event will bring together the right minds to ask tough questions and explore how philanthropic efforts can become more strategic, collaborative, and impactful». ***
