  • Seads Solution: a project offering forward-thinking solutions geared toward combating marine plastic pollution and boosting circular economy loops.

  • Bend N Snap: a cutting-edge concept engineered to revolutionise marine-related hardware design or operations, lowering the threat of industrial harm to underwater habitats.

  • Blue Fields Company: a sustainable venture designed to empower coastal communities while safeguarding marine biodiversity and minimising ocean resource degradation.

  • CalX – Sea Materials: an initiative focusing on transforming natural marine waste products into viable, eco-friendly resources for structural applications.

The Grand Finale served as a high-stakes pitch arena where contestants had to defend their business models before leading industry experts. Prominent jury figures included prominent Nina Jensen, marine biologist, and MonacoTech Director, Chloé Boscagli, MonacoTech Director.

Rather than focusing solely on theoretical conservation concepts, this business challenge aims at turning student dreams into real-world market ventures. Past successes include former winners like Ocean Twist Biotechnology (formerly Ittinsect), which continues to expand its sustainable aquaculture feed production worldwide, and Innov&Sea, which has grown its ecotoxicity testing reach across industrial sectors. Following two rounds of selection, ten finalist teams were invited to take part in the Grand Finale: four in the “Business Concepts” category, four in the “Startups” category, as well as the winners of the special “Spotlight on Africa” and “CFM Indosuez Coup de Coeur” awards.

🔹 Winner in the "Business Concepts" category.

SEADS (Germany) – Designed by Emily Hannah Purnell, Simona Toepfer, Matz Hueffner and Jonas Pfitzner (Germans), University of Münst. SEADS sets itself the ambitious target of restoring seagrass meadows through autonomous AI-powered technology. This innovative device is capable of efficiently harvesting, cultivating and replanting seagrass seeds, meeting the need to restore marine ecosystems, while storing CO₂, protecting coastlines and enhancing ocean biodiversity.

🔹 Winner in the "Startups" category.

BendNSnap (India) - Conceived by Kanskhi Dodia, (Indian). its mission is to accelerate coral reef restoration through an innovative, biodegradable and microplastic-free solution in order to speed up operations and make coral an economic asset. Bend&Snap has developed a 3D-printed anchor that reduces coral attachment time from 10 minutes to just 20 seconds. This cutting edge technology uses materials made of sustainable elements that mimic natural calcification processes, lowering restoration costs, enabling large-scale deployment, and supporting the regeneration of marine ecosystems.

🔹 Winner of the “Spotlight on Africa” Prize

Blue Field Company (Morocco) – built up by Amine Koubaa, this project is addressed to restore the health of the Marchica Lagoon marine ecosystem through a combination of sustainable seaweed aquaculture and environmental monitoring technologies.

Growing seaweed allows to absorb extra nutrients and reduce coastal pollution, whilst improving water quality and creating new local economic opportunities.

The 2026 edition of the Monaco Ocean Protection Challenge highlighted the need for pragmatic, Circular Economy solutions and AI-driven Technologies to safeguard the marine environment which must be transformed into viable, regenerative economic assets and scalable as well as innovative results. ***
