Monaco supports the rebirth of Seahorses, an emblematic marine species.

Updated: Dec 11, 2024

It is one of the most distinctive species which populate oceans. Its tail is not used to swim but to anchor to surfaces and the male carries on the pregnancy. Their presence in the deep sea is a symbol of biodiversity, being particularly vulnerable to changes in ecosystems. Thus, Seahorses are included in the IUCN (International Union for the Conservation of Nature) Red List of Threatened Species in the whole Mediterranean Sea. The Principality of Monaco has long been at the forefront in preserving marine biological diversity.
