World Clean Up Day lands in Monaco this weekend to take action against urban pollution.

Wanted volunteers to clean the world from trash! The World Clean Up Day started worldwide in 2018 with the aim to eliminate all human waste from beaches, rivers, forests and streets. Various initiatives, mostly under the umbrella of Let's Do It World (LDIW) association, are organised by local authorities to increase the sense of eco-responsibility among community members. The Mairie de Monaco takes concrete action on Saturday the 16th September 2023, from 9:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. The collective collection of waste will be held in partnership with the Société Monegasque d'Assainissement (SMA). All participants are invited to collect symbolically all the waste they encounter during an organised walk on urban territory. The start line is set at Marché de la Condamine where organisers will offer gloves and bags for rubbish. The areas that will be cleaned up are: Avenue de la Costa, Avenue Princesse Alice, Avenue d'Ostende, Fort Antoine, to reach the City Hall in Monaco Ville passing through Route de la Piscine and the Quai Antoine 1er.

The waste collected will then be taken to the Cour d'Honneur of the Municipal building, where they will be weighed. The event wants to convey a strong message in favour of protecting the natural environment and combating climate change, reaffirming direct involvement of Monaco in the ecological cause.

In 2022, 345k of waste have been collected worldwide in 197 countries and involving 70 million volunteers. The win-win outcome is facilitating social change conscious of a better resource management while inspiring smarter choices. ***
