The 2022 edition of SPORTEL Monaco (24th - 26th October 2022) and SPORTEL Awards (23rd - 24th October 2022) has just come to an end with a completely positive balance through the involvement of a wide international network of stakeholders, sports champions and multinational media companies. Landmark in the sport industry, SPORTEL Monaco represents the milestone of a world tour which gathers stakeholders operating both in the sport business sector and in the high-tech. SPORTEL Awards, under the Honorary Presidency of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, offers the most glamorous side within an international competition to reward the best sporting footages of the past Season. All this in the prestigious setting of a Hollywood-like ceremony at the iconic Grimaldi Forum that includes many Olympic champions and sports celebrities.

SPORTEL is then conceived to put under the spotlight sport, sports champions and the values they convey. Creating strong emotions is the watchword and an increased sustainability issues are gaining more and more space as pointed out by Laurent Puons (L.P.) Chief Executive Officer at Groupe Monaco Mediax organising SPORTEL Monaco & SPORTEL Awards. Hereafter his meaningful comments collected during an exclusive interview conducted by MonacoEcoArt during the event.

MONACŒCOART®: SPORTEL business seems to be even more vital, isn’t it?
J.P.: Yes, it is. As for SPORTEL sports business branch, the situation has luckily returned to the same levels as before the pandemic, in 2019. The results of SPORTEL Monaco are therefore promising. The implementation of a whole range of highly advanced technologies made a further development in the sport media market. Metaverse, Web 3.0 and NFTs are key driving forces resulting from the blooming of smartphones and digital platforms. Thus, the media sports consumer has completely changed his habits. Long sports live broadcasting is increasingly replaced by highlights, just to give you an example. Basically, new generations do not follow television, anymore.
MONACŒCOART®: SPORTEL gets a new destination in Bali, the 23rd and the 24th February 2023, why choosing to move to Asia?
J.P.: First of all, we must specify that we have chosen Indonesia which stands out from the rest of the Asian region. In March 2020 we launched the 1st edition of SPORTEL rendezvous in Miami. This is a brand-new format which consists of a two-day summit full of business engaging and networking meetings in order to gain important contacts with ‘unexplored’ territories. Bali is the perfect place where to invest having a handy international airport with all the most advanced facilities and global comprehensive network. At the same time, it is also a dream tourist destination.

MONACŒCOART®: Do you plan in the next editions of SPORTEL AWARDS a targeted section focused on the relationship between media, Sport and Sustainability?
J.P.: SPORTEL Awards is already rewarding emotions as its prior mission. I believe that environmental protection is an essential issue that touches me personally. It is therefore very likely that a special space will soon be created to the environmental cause. Of course, the emotional approach will always be the focus. ***
