The Oceanographic Institute, Albert I Foundation, Prince of Monaco is constantly engaged in the search for effective communication strategies to engage and federate political, scientific, economic, associative actors and the general public,
on major topics related to the protection of marine ecosystems.
Based on its centuries-old legacy, the Oceanographic Institute has recently launched OCEANO Podcast, a new media project aimed at proposing meaningful stories to make known, love and protect the Ocean. Thanks to an engaging and user-friendly narrative, a series of audio recordings lead us towards the encounter between art, history, science and today's challenges. Through these formats, the Albert I Foundation wishes to raise eco-awareness, share knowledge and nourish a proactive debate, in line with Monaco's values and commitments.

This new audio series, designed with a unique immersive soundtrack, is addressed to reinforce the Oceanographic Institute’s engagement in conveying high-level knowledge on pivotal ocean issues, combining cultural, scientific and educational actions.
The first episode within the "Art and History" Section, released starting from January the 22nd 2026, is devoted to Louis Tinayre, French Painter and Explorer who took part to some of the greatest oceanographic campaigns of the early 20th Century, from the Azores to the Polar Regions. The episode, written by Fréderic Couderc and directed by Emma Chevalier, is performed by Charles Berling, French Actor, Director and Screenwriter. A breathless and intense narration guides the audience from the Paris Commune to the Second World War, with the original musical accompaniment by Thomas Loupias.
The media production is enriched by the interventions of Anne de Bussac-Beauchef, Curator of the Exhibition on Albert I and Louis Tinayre in 2022, Marie Bournonville, Conservation Officer at the Oceanographic Institute, and Pierre-Antoine Gérard, Head of the Exhibition Department and Chief Curator of the Oceanographic Institute.

The second episode within the "Society and Environment" Section, released starting from February the 5th 2026, questions how Marine Protected Areas can improve and save the health conditions of the Mediterranean Basin.
Animated by Camille Juzeau, this chapter brings together Cyril Gomez, Deputy Director-General of the Oceanographic Institute, and a series of distinguished guests: Laurent Ballesta, Photographer, Diver and Natural Biologist, Rym Rochelle, President of La Saison Bleue (Tunisia), Xavier Prache, Director of the Explorations of Monaco, and
Yunne Shine, Research Director at the Institute for Research and Development (IRD).
The Mare Nostrum is on the spotlight between meaningful insights and best practices, highlighting the strong will of the Oceanographic Institute to build up a relevant network of Marine Protected Areas able to generate enviromentally friendly social and economic ecosystems. ***
