Decision makers from the four continents are attending a pivotal summit where to debate on particularly crucial issues in the current geopolitical landscape. The International Atomic Energy Assembly - I.A.E.A. - is being leading the 69th General Conference in Wien (Austria) from the 15th to the 19th September 2025 where high-ranking officials and I.A.E.A. representatives are discussing various issues related to the peaceful uses of nuclear science and technology, with a focus on water sustainability for the 2025 Scientific Forum, named "Atoms for Water". A targeted panel addressed to science people on how to generate actionable data and information addressed to facilitate governance, financing and innovation to best manage water sources while preventing pollution.
The Principality of Monaco is a key player within this global meeting.
Isabelle Rosabrunetto, Director General of the Department of External Relations and Cooperation, highlighted Monaco's support to the I.A.E.A. cause, particularly in the field of peaceful nuclear sciences and technologies in favour of the preservation of the terrestrial and marine environment, including human health. Moreover, she welcomed the efforts of the Agency in order to preserve the safety and security of nuclear installations in Ukraine, notably the I.A.E.A. Support and Assistance Mission in Zaporozhye.

Monaco's Director General for External Relations and Cooperation recalled the personal commitment of Prince Albert II of Monaco in favour of the fight against climate change and for ocean preservation. All this takes the form of concrete actions like the most recent Blue Economy and Finance Forum - BEFF - held at the Grimaldi Forum on the 7th and the 8th June 2025. This summit, labeled as 'UN Ocean Conference Special Event' and integral part of the United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC3), gathered about 1,800 participants from almost 100 countries.
Last but not least, the Principality of Monaco has been hosting the I.A.E.A. Marine Environment Laboratories since 1961, These devices are crucial to develop the NUTEC Plastics Initiative, notably Technology nuclear at the Service for the fight against pollution by plastic, providing technical assistance in setting up a network of more than 100 laboratories around the world. This network aims at monitoring marine plastic pollution, offering a science-based solution to recycle plastics through ionising radiation.
Monaco is also an essential hub to implement I.A.E.A.'s cancer screening program through the 'Rays of Hope' Initiative, a prior healthcare project to support the creation of units of radiotherapy in countries that can't afford, including some areas of Monaco's Development Cooperation. ***
