Architecture and design are about to project forward, involving the entire city of Milan. The Milan Design Week 2026, from April the 21st to the 26th, confirms its position as a global hub of innovation and sustainability, uniting the Salone del Mobile at Rho Fiera with the Fuorisalone, a widespread event that engage the entire city territory, including 5Vie, Brera Design District, Porta Venezia Design District, Tortona Design Week, and Superstudio. The main focus of this year's edition is on design as a laboratory of the future, integrating artificial intelligence, circular economy and new skills for a coherent and sustainable design approach.
The Milan Design Week transforms Milan into an open-air stage, gathering accomplished professionals with young talent in defining tomorrow's living and working spaces, with an eye for technological innovation, environmental sustainability, next-generation materials.

Milan Design Week 2026 will play as a key stage for the ecological transition, placing environmental and social sustainability at the heart of its mission, counting on 47% of official projects based on Circular Economy principles in order to redefine the relationship between Design, People and Environment.
Reducing environmental impact through the life cycle of materials, reusing previous installations or using materials already present locally, reducing and recycling waste produced within events and installations, are some of the main objectives of this edition.
MONACŒCOART® proposes to you a set of installations and projects that promise to be particularly significant in addressing the themes of the Ecological Transition.
The New State of Materials (Materially) at Isola district will explore material research combining creativity, technology, and sustainability to product design and the built environment.
In particular, the companies selected at global scale for The New State of Materials represent some of the most compelling contemporary movement in the innovative building materials field. From research into bio-based materials to high-performance solutions for the built environment, from certified circular supply chains to new digital applications, each exhibitor will showcase their own vision on the future of materials for design and architecture.
Ecoverse within LAND, Design with Nature: Ecoverse, at Via Varese 16, will unveil a cutting edge AI-powered intelligence platform to translate environmental data into actionable and immersive landscape, designed through source-based environmental data. This year, LAND will allow designers, innovators, public leaders, and visionary leaders to share their point of view on technology, and its ability to imagine, to design, and to lead future ecosystems.
CIVICITY & Regenerative Practices, by Nieuwe Instituut, in collaboration with the Embassy and Consulate General of the Netherlands in Italy and with the contribution of the Fondazione di Comunità Milano, will highlight the importance of engaging local communities in the "reduce, reuse, recycle" paradigm, often known as the "3 Rs," as a fundamental framework for Sustainable Waste Management and Circular Economy.
A selected group of applicants will present the audience tangible solutions to face environmental , social and spatial challenges, after a two-month full-immersion workshop based in Milan.
The themes at the heart of this year's project are: urban and social non-sustainability; design as process to foster relationships, methodologies and long-term value; local narratives, merging crafts, knowledge and material flows to create innovative forms of design; participatory methods to promote co-creation and dialogue among stakeholders.
Metamorphosis in Motion by Lina Ghotmeh, Lebanese-born architect and founder of Lina Ghotmeh Architecture in Paris, at Palazzo Litta, promises to arouse emotions and reflections, focusing on site-specific Sustainability. Taking advantage of the historic architecture of the palace's courtyard of honour, seventeenth Lombard barocchetto, the internationally renowned architect wants to go beyond spaces, projecting himself into a future, perhaps not too distant. Her first outdoor site-specific work in Italy, transforms that iconic setting into a pulsating ecosystem.

Meanwhile, the Milan Design Week 2026 has been playing as a key platform for the combination of Sustainable Luxury and Design Innovation, with numerous events dedicated to Eco-design, the Circular Economy and Environmentally-friendly Materials.
Among the events dedicated to this theme, we recall:
Milani and Gabriel Fabrics - Brera Design District: The exhibition “MILANIPLACES: living the project” within the Gabriel Fabrics showroom presents new collections which bridge the gap between craftsmanship and a shared commitment to sustainability.
Origin by Zaha Hadid X Audi (Portrait Milano): In the courtyard of Portrait Milano, the Zaha Hadid studio presents "Origin", an installation which arouse different reflections on the philosophy of Sustainable Luxury and essential design, trying to eliminate everything superfluous.
Uno Contract (FSC®-certified hotel): From April the 22nd to the 25th, a Sustainable Luxury experience will be presented in the first FSC-certified hotel in Italy, highlighting eco-friendly furnishing solutions.
Hayvenhurst (Masterly Milano): The Hayvenhurst Sustainable Luxury furniture line comes back to Milano Design Week, bringing together craftsmanship, responsible materials and innovation.
InsideOut by CLASS (Oasi Life Experience): On April the 24th, a special panel organised by CLASS will explore the integration of sustainable and natural materials into Luxury Design.
The Milan Design Week 2026 will represent a unique stage where to explore the future of living, while focusing on Sustainability, Digital Innovation and Well-being. ***
