Divided between humid forests and tropical and subtropical dry forests, Paraguay includes in its territory, ecosystems of prior importance. The Country has also made significant progress to secure a sustainable future, through specific financial projects with positive environmental and social impacts as well as supporting the agricultural sector.
Not by chance, an institutional delegation from the Principality of Monaco led by Ludmilla Raconnat Le Goff, Delegate in charge of attractiveness to the Minister of State, responsible for the coordination of economic actions and international promotion, visited Asunción (capital of the Country) from the 3rd to the 5th November 2025, in the presence of H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco .
This comes from a new partnership among the Monaco Economic Board, the Paraguayan Ministry of Trade and Industry, and the REDIEX, the Paraguayan investment promotion agency. This synergy aimed at strengthening a cross-country economic cooperation in designing the new international attractiveness strategy based on sustainable values.

On that occasion, Ludmilla Raconnat Le Goff: « This mission to Paraguay perfectly illustrates the dynamic we have initiated: a vibrant attractiveness, focused on cooperation and based on trust. Paraguay is a young and stable country, with strong growth potential, and this meeting embodies a logic of openness and listening: moving towards new partners, building trust and ensuring our exchanges over the long term. Attractiveness is built over time, through dialogue and consistency of action. This first mission has laid a solid foundation for future economic and institutional collaborations ».
The Paraguay-Monaco Economic Forum, co-organised with REDIEX, took place in an atmosphere of great cordiality. The Monegasque strategy, named "Monaco: a safe gateway to Europe", was officially presented in this context, highlighting the structural assets of the Principality, notably: political and financial stability, transparent regulatory framework, diversified economy and strong commitment to sustainability.
The meeting included a networking reception organised by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) of Paraguay addressed to Paraguayan and Monegasque companies; an official lunch with the Industrial Union of Paraguay; a set of field visits to companies operating in the agri-food sector; and a motor sport gala dinner, held in honour of the Sovereign Prince and H.E. Santiago Peña, President of the Republic of Paraguay, together with leading economic and institutional actors from both Countries.
Forging close relationships with Paraguay is an integral part of an interchange project to export the "Made in Monaco" attractiveness model grounded on three main priorities:
federating the Monegasque actors around a common and coordinated vision;
strengthening Monaco’s international presence in high-potential markets;
promoting the Monegasque economic model, based on stability, excellence and environmental responsibility.

EPISODE 7: What does Urban Functional Biodiversity refer to?
How do you feel when you come into contact with the green spaces of your city? Maybe more relaxed, regenerated and energetic! it is not by chance. #Urban Functional #Biodiversity is about various natural #species and their specific functional traits (e.g., nitrogen fixation, pollination, water retention) that maintain #ecosystems and provide essential #services in heavily populated areas. Boosting #climate regulation, favouring flood #control, reducing #pollution, providing recreational spaces and improving human #wellbeing, resilience and health are some of the most significant #benefits they generate.
Being inspired by #Nature’s balance helps #architects, #designers and urban #planners to select vegetation able to optimises specific ecological functions, such as #water infiltration or biodiversity support. Integrating interconnected #green spaces (e.g.: parks, green roofs) and #blue spaces (ponds, wetlands) promotes #habitat connectivity and strengthens urban biodiversity. Moreover, engaging local residents and stakeholders in the planning and management of urban nature, encourages a shared vision of the development of densely inhabited areas, boosting mental and physical health.
Main Strategies for Enhancing Urban Functional Biodiversity are:
· Biodiversity-Sensitive Design]: that is integrating native, multi-functional plant species into urban design, including vertical gardens and green roofs.
· Ecological Restoration: that is actively restoring urban green and blue spaces to enhance habitat diversity and ecological function.
· Inclusive Governance: that is engaging local residents and stakeholders in the planning and management of urban nature.
